Field Service Technician

About the Role

We’re looking for a Field Service Technician to support Technik clients across Michigan.
This is a hands-on, client-facing role with a strong focus on structured cabling, on-site IT support, and general infrastructure work. You’ll be the person on the ground making sure installations are done correctly, systems are running properly, and clients get reliable support.
This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys working independently, solving real-world problems, and doing work that’s tangible and visible.

What You’ll Do

  • Install, terminate, and test structured cabling (copper and fiber)
  • Run and manage cable pathways (drops, racks, patch panels, etc.)
  • Provide on-site IT support for business clients
  • Troubleshoot basic network and connectivity issues
  • Assist with hardware setup (workstations, switches, access points, etc.)
  • Document work performed and update ticketing systems
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients on-site
  • Travel to client locations throughout Michigan (Company vehicle used, or milage paid)

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in structured cabling (required)
  • Basic understanding of networking (switches, routers, patching)
  • Desktop support/troubleshooting experience
  • Comfortable working in ceilings, crawlspaces, and job site environments
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to work independently and manage a field schedule
  • Strong communication skills with non-technical clients
  • Attention to detail (clean, professional cable work matters)

Nice to Have

  • MSP or field IT support experience
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems
  • Basic Wi-Fi deployment/troubleshooting experience
  • Low-voltage or BICSI-related background

Technik Perks

  • Healthcare reimbursement / stipend
  • PTO + paid holidays
  • Overtime opportunities when available
  • Use of company vehicle or mileage reimbursement if using a personal vehicle
  • Quarterly and yearly performance bonuses
  • Year-end profit sharing
  • 3% Simple IRA
  • Training and certification support

Physical Demands

This role requires occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs), as well as standing, bending, and working in active job site environments. Will occasionally involve working from a ladder or lift.

Other Requirements

  • Must maintain professional client relationships and represent the company well on-site
  • Valid Michigan driver’s license required
  • Must pass State of Michigan LEIN/CJIS background check

Why This Role

This isn’t a desk job. You’ll be out in the field doing real infrastructure work that keeps business systems up and running. If you prefer hands-on work, changing environments, and not sitting in one place all day, this is a solid fit.

Apply today and start your journey with Technik!
